Summer was out in force this weekend–and for DC, that means hazy, hot and humid with thunderstorms sprinkled it. Luckily, lots of color came out too.

Shades of gray, brown and deep blue have dominated much of the winter landscape. This morning a fine coating of ice covered much of the lake–creating a patchwork of pattern that reflected blazing winter sun. This afternoon, a stroll through the Conifer Collection at the National Arboretum provided a delightful–and colorful–break from winter’s usual palette.
