handmade holidays

Gingerbread houseMy grandmother on my father’s side made this little house. Plastic canvas and yarn that’s survived many years longer than the gingerbread that inspired it.

I don’t remember exactly when it became mine, and I don’t always remember to put it out somewhere prominent each holiday season, but it’s a nice memory of a woman who made many a handmade holiday nonetheless.

The retail stores are full of people and things, and the pressure to finish your shopping list is getting stronger. What’s one of your favorites from a handmade holiday?
