during and after

I don’t often have a during picture to share, but here’s one from earlier this week.

On my first gather of glass I added gray powder. On the second, I added pink frit, heated and swirled it around a bit (swirls in process above). After a third gather of glass, I added white powder to the outside. Then it was time to get busy blowing and working things into shape.

The result is textured on the outside, swirly on the inside and looks super cool when some battery powered twinkle lights are shining through.

And it fits in quite nicely with with the series of bright colors and white I’ve been exploring.

  1. Thanks for the kind words! Nature inspires many of my shapes, but I haven’t really considered how the different mediums may influence what I make in glass–will have to ponder that one!
