before, during, after

I’ve been a bit obsessed with the same shape lately. I really like a round piece–something that kind of feels like you’re holding a ball. I’ve made it three times in shades of blue (trying for earth) and decided for my “last” night in the glass studio for a few weeks that I’d try a new color combination and bigger. I dug out two colors I’ve used before, but not together: violet blue in a very fine transparent frit and pale orange opaque in something a little chunkier.

I applied the violet frit rather liberally over clear and added the orange as a wrap.

Heat. Blow. Shape. Repeat.

The result: kind of like summer and cotton candy.
